Screens Apart, Charlie Novak

Screens Apart by [Charlie Novak]

I've always had a soft spot for the vulnerable sweethearts. Toss in manties and a staked body and I'm sold! Simon was so lovable and I wanted so much for him and while I struggled with Taylor through at least the first half, he proved by the end to be a suitable and wonderful partner for my tender Simon.

Taylor just rubbed me the wrong way from the beginning of their arrangement because he came across as so selfish. I mean, he made sure Simon enjoyed their bedroom activities, but there was so little else that he did because it was the nice thing to do, to show Simon he was more than an attractive man who pushed Taylor's sexual buttons. Until Simon caught a nasty cold. At that moment I knew there was more, something worthy.

 Screens Apart, Charlie Novak

There was not a lot of getting to know the men, especially Taylor, so there wasn't much to truly connect them to me as a reader, it was really down to the sexual chemistry they had and what could grow from that. The steam was palpable and very well-written and it suited both men's preferences and personalities. With so much of it taking up the majority of the book I was worried that it would remain sexy yet kind of superficial. And on a personal pet-peeve note, the getting off with the online person while having feelings for someone else, even while unaware they're the same as the IRL person, and even though the mental images of the act become the IRL person...it just feels too icky for me and that scene left me feeling uncomfortable.

So while the relationship itself starts off predictably with withholding feelings, hopes, and a whole lot of denial of deeper feels, the conclusion proved them to be serious about one another, totally in love, and have a believable future together.

 Screens Apart, Charlie Novak

Simon has one secret and two problems.

The secret? An anonymous blog featuring satin and lace.

The problems? Two crushes. One on his gorgeous, charming roommate, Taylor. And another on his charismatic online admirer, Mr. Smith.

When Taylor suggests they start hooking up, Simon is more than happy to agree, even if it means putting a lid on his feelings. After all, no-strings fun is better than nothing at all, right?

Except Simon’s not sure that lid will stay shut, especially when he starts to fall in love. But with Mr Smith in the same situation, advice is in short supply.

And there’s no chance Taylor and Smith are the same person… is there?
