After one night of selfish teenage indulgence where she snuck out and left her little brother, Rocker, alone at home Eve's family broke apart. Rocker entered the system for six months until Eve could prove she could raise him on her own. She'd done her best but no matter how straight-laced she became, her brother joined an MC anyway. Eve had been restraining herself most of her life to be the kind of responsible caretaker her little brother needed but because of Rocker's bad choices she's now a target for the Colombian cartel and at the mercy of an enforcer from a rival MC.
Rev is all kinds of hard. He enjoys his life and he's dedicated to his club. Even the hot princess can't shake his loyalty. But maybe he can make room for her in his bed. Little does he know her fire and sweetness burrow their way into his heart too. When he finally lets her in her brother's sins catch up to them and he has to choose between his club and his woman. And after the dust settles, will she still want him?
Toward the end where Rev reiterates and reinforces his loyalty to the club I feel like he's trying too hard. Well, really it's the author who's trying too hard to make him seem more aloof and badass rather than having him accept Eve for all she could be for him and acknowledging that she actually makes him stronger, gives him the strength to live for both the club and her. She provides a balance and a seriously sensual hearth in her warm demeanor, her love, and her passion. And then there's Eve. With her multiple escape attempts I feel like she was grasping at straws rather than thinking and plotting. She became reactionary rather than proactive. The thing with the gun? That bit in the scene felt unnecessary and made her seem less intelligent than she is.
Despite that, this story was fast, dirty, sexy, and a pretty good read. I loved how feisty Eve was and how badass Rev was. They started off fast and fierce and remained that way most of the way through the story. Their passion was intense and dirty-sexy. Her confession at the end was perfect for how they both are individually and together. A solid cast was built around them and there's a lot from their world that is intriguing enough to get me to dive back in for more. I'm looking forward to getting Vik's story in Inked.
